About Friends of the Forth
The Friends of the Forth project follows on from the very successful Coastal Litter Campaign, which ran from 2001 – 2004 in order to raise awareness of marine litter and set up beach cleans to reduce debris.
Friends of the Forth started in 2005 and was designed to help a wide range of local communities, organisations and schools become more aware of the range of issues affecting their coastline. Some of these issues include marine litter, climate change and biodiversity.
The project covers the entire coastline of the Firth of Forth from Fife Ness in the North to Dunbar in the South, all the way up to the tidal limit of the Forth Estuary at Stirling. We work with schools, community groups and councils associated with all seven local authorities on the Forth: Clackmannanshire, East Lothian, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Fife, Stirling and West Lothian.
We have been involved in a variety of different projects, which you can find out more about on the following pages.
